Hi there fellow Wing Chun fanatic —
It’s Rob from WingChunLife.com… I want to offer you an alternative Valentine’s Day gift idea for the important woman in your life: your wife, fiancee, or girlfriend.
You could also give it to the other women you care about like your sister, your mother, aunt, daughter, or female family friend.
Let me warn you…
… this gift idea is not the typical cute, snuggly, warm, or even sexy type of present you’re used to.
The subject of this gift is cold, dark, and disturbing.
But it is a gift that will empower her and enable her to live a more healthy and free life.
It’s also practical and lasts longer than a box of chocolates or a bouquet of flowers —
Are the Women You Care About in Danger?
I recently picked up a copy of Survive the Unthinkable: A Total Guide to Women’s Self-Protection. It’s written by Tim Larkin, the founder of Target-Focused Training (TFT).
I’ve been studying his programs for a couple of years and I’m totally on board with their view and solution to real life street violence.
He recently wrote a book focused 100% on women and their needs as applied to self-protection.
I was shocked when I started reading and immediately thought you should grab a copy for the woman (or women) in your life, too.
Here are a few stats from his book:
— Women ages 15 through 44 are more likely to die or be maimed because of male violence than cancer, malaria, war, or car crashes combined! (More than cancer; as in breast cancer? Puts it all into perspective, doesn’t it?)
— Only 16% of U.S. rape victims report the crime, which means the numbers are much higher;
— The World Health Organization reports 30% to 60% of women in most countries are victims of domestic and sexual violence;
— A rape or sexual predator attacks at least 7 to 9 women before getting caught;
— The National Institute of Justice estimates that 1.9 million women are physically assaulted in the U.S. per year;
— A White House press release in 2009 claimed that 18% of U.S. women have been raped;
— The Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the U.S.) reports that 1 in 6 American women has been a victim of attempted or completed rape (nearly 18 million women);
— Every two minutes someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.
This data reflects the experience in the U.S., but I think most people would agree that the numbers in other countries are very similar, or even worse.
What’s the Good News to all These Gruesome Stats?
The woman you care about, no matter her size or fitness level, can learn to severely injure an attacker and walk away with her life.
And she does not have to spend years perfecting Wing Chun techniques or train for triathlons if she doesn’t want to.
In fact, she already has all the tools necessary to either avoid a violent situation or protect herself when avoidance is not an option. All she needs is the knowledge on how to use the tools.
What’s more, even the most deadly sociopaths are extremely vulnerable; once she knows what drives them and how to end it.
And There’s More to it Because…
Pretty much everything taught to women about dealing with violent situations is a lie.
The tired advice of talking down her aggressor, or yelling for help, or giving in so she doesn’t anger her predator, is all nonsense.
One big reason — and the book goes into much more detail — there is a huge difference between antisocial behavior and asocial behavior.
Women who get killed or maimed in a sexual or physical assault got caught in an asocial violent situation.
Talking, yelling, or giving in is the WRONG response when faced with true violence.
Yet, that’s what self-defense classes often teach women. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
For example, a 2005 report issued by the Institute for Justice found that fighting back does NOT necessarily mean women are more likely to get hurt.
In other words, women must use violence to fight violence and survive.
This is not an easy concept for women to accept.
Heck, many men have trouble with it, too. And this is a good thing because it provides the foundation for a civil society. But violence is the only appropriate response to violence.
Serial killers, sociopaths, and asocial behavior does not follow or respect the rules of a civil society.
… Women must use violence to fight violence and survive.
To be clear: Someone taking your parking spot at the mall is not cause for violence. A creepy guy trying to get a phone number or making lewd remarks is not a cause for violence. A blind date trying to steal a good night kiss is not a cause for violence. But…
Someone trying to grab you in a dark parking lot needs you to cause him a violent injury and stop him. A stranger who hits or pushes you is asking for a violent and disabling injury to stop him from taking the next step. The blind date who forces himself past your door and into your home also deserves a violent response to make him non-functional.
The book, Survive the Unthinkable: A total Guide to Women’s Self-Protection, goes into great detail and walks your loved one step-by-step on:
** How to perceive violence in a way that can save her life;
** How to accept violence in her mind and use it as a survival tool;
** How to use violence to cause debilitating injury no matter how small she is or how big her assailant is;
** How predators think and how to use it to her advantage;
** Why the attacker is more vulnerable than she thinks;
** Why learning to use violence will not turn her into a crazed criminal;
** What can she do to prevent violence from happening to her;
** What are the 70 anatomical areas of the body, that when hit, quickly cause a predictable spinal-reflex and incapacitates any predator no matter how big, determined, or muscular he is;
** How to train herself to go ‘automatic’ and severely injure the attacker first, before she gets severely injured or killed.
I recommend this book to you and the women you care about in your life. Order it here.
Have a Happy and Safe Valentine’s Day,
Rob
