There are no local teachers where I live and I don’t have much money. What resources do you recommend for learning Wing Chun? I’m specifically interested in the health benefits of practicing Wing Chun.
Thank you for your time.
Sifu Alon Peterson from the Los Angeles Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy http://wingchuncalifornia.com/home replies:
The most readily available resources are videos online. You could also look into correspondence training with an instructor that offers that service. There are several good books available but without an instructor it is difficult to get worthwhile training that way.
Rob Comments: Take a look through the WingChunLife Video MASTERY library.
You can also find a few complete Wing Chun system courses. Sifu Wayne Belonoha offers a complete 108-step course from his Ving Tsun lineage. There are a couple of other sifus who do the same.
Currently, there are over 600 videos you can purchase and download. So there’s a good chance you’ll find what you need. Plus, they’re usually cheaper than physical DVDs (save on the cost of packaging and shipping, and possibly sales tax depending where you live). And then, there are often bundled discounts saving you even more money.
If you subscribe to WingChunLife News, and select the “Special offers…” box, you’ll get notified of periodic sales and discounts that can help you save even more money.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for your question!
